Fuel prices across Europe remain volatile, exposing the road transport sector—and the broader economy—to ongoing cost shocks. Reducing dependence on imported fossil fuels is a matter of economic security.
One of the most immediate tools available to EU Member States is the implementation of toll exemptions for zero-emission trucks under the Eurovignette Directive.
Industry is calling for action now. A coalition of 58 major companies — including DHL, IKEA, Nestlé, PepsiCo, Volvo, and others—has urged EU governments to implement toll exemptions, introduce CO₂-based road charging, and reinvest revenues into a fair transition.
Countries including Austria, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, and Switzerland are already advancing ambitious approaches. This workshop provides a platform for direct exchange between country frontrunners and Member States currently exploring implementation.
