ngenio Risaralda S.A. is a Colombian sugarcane agro-industrial company, founded in 1973 and based near La Virginia/Balboa in the Risaralda department (administrative seat in Pereira), that transforms sugarcane across four business units: sugar, fuel alcohol (ethanol), electricity cogeneration, and composting. It produces several varieties of sugar and operates a cogeneration plant (around 13.5 MW) that self-supplies its operations and exports surplus power to Colombia’s national grid, with a near-zero-waste strategy that converts mill by-products into biofuel and energy.
