ITF 2025 summit

The ITF 2025 Summit on Transport Resilience to Global Shocks will take place from 21 to 23 May in Leipzig, Germany, under the ITF Presidency of Chile.

The ITF Annual Summit is the world’s largest gathering of transport ministers and the premier global transport policy event. Since 2008, ministers from ITF’s 69 member countries, heads of international organisations, parliamentarians, and leaders in industry and academia have met annually during the 2.5-day Summit to discuss the future of transport and mobility through the prism of a strategic topic of global importance.

Securing the Future of Road Freight: How Zero-Emission Trucks and Buses Shield Economies from Global Shocks

Date/Time: Wednesday 21 May, 12:45 – 13:30
Location:
ITF Media Room

Summary:

Global Memorandum on Zero-Emission Medium- and Heavy-Duty Vehicles (Global MOU) signatory countries represent 1 in 5 trucks and endorsers represent hundreds of millions in annual revenues. These two powerful groups are mapping an ambitious path toward 100% new zero-emission medium- and heavy-duty vehicle (ZE-MHDV) sales by 2040. This collective effort is reducing local pollution, cutting global transport emissions, and creating a more technologically advanced global transport system that is less reliant on diesel and oil. In the face of disruptions to global oil supplies and distribution, certain natural disasters, and other geopolitical crises, Global MOU signatories and endorsers will gather at ITF 2025 Summit to spotlight how ZE-busses and trucks are a safer investment today—both economically, and from a climate perspective.

Drive to Zero will put this shift to a more sustainable and resilient transport future into a global context while also announcing new Global MOU signatories, new Global Green Road Corridors (GGRC), and financing mechanisms to accelerate a global shift to zero-emission trucks and buses. This high-profile media event will include ministers and leaders of industry.
