Activities
Activities will focus on strategic knowledge exchange and targeted networking and include sessions on:
Policy deep dive: Unlocking the potential of supply-side regulations—economic impact and policy implementation
This session, part of a two-part series, is designed for governments that have not yet implemented supply-side regulations, which compel manufacturers to sell an increasing number of zero-emission vehicles each year. Policymakers will develop cost-benefit assessments to identify the savings supply-side regulations could generate for their countries and create tailored implementation plans to transition from idea to action. The session will provide expert guidance, tools, templates, and lessons learned from first-mover countries to help participants advance Global MOU-aligned Electric Vehicle Availability Standards (EVAS) adoption. By the end, policymakers will be equipped with the knowledge, data, and support to move forward with supply-side regulations for zero-emission vehicles.
Finance deep dive: Understanding and implementing residual value guarantees for ZE-MHDVs
This session will provide policymakers and companies with a comprehensive understanding of residual value guarantees (RVGs), exploring their economic rationale, benefits, and practical implementation strategies. RVGs help ensure a minimum resale value for zero-emission trucks (ZETs), improving the risk profile of financial transactions, expanding access to financing, and lowering the overall cost of leasing. Participants will leave with a clear understanding of how RVGs can reduce deployment costs and make ZETs more affordable. The session will also offer tailored technical assistance for RVG adoption, including the opportunity for long-term support from CALSTART and GFI.
Infrastructure deep dive: Powering the future—planning charging and grid infrastructure for ZE-MHDV deployment
This session will provide practical insights into developing the necessary charging infrastructure for zero-emission medium and heavy-duty vehicles (ZE-MHDVs), focusing on successful grid strategies, renewable energy integration, and long-term infrastructure planning. Participants will learn from expert presentations and successful case studies, while also engaging in hands-on work to develop their own implementation plans. By the end of the session, policymakers will map out the most likely ZE-MHDV corridors in their countries, estimate charging plaza requirements, and take home a tailored implementation plan. The session will equip participants with the tools, resources, and expert guidance to drive forward infrastructure development for ZE-MHDVs.
The green corridor challenge: A serious game on renewable freight, power, and grid integration
Join this interactive workshop where you will take on the role of energy and transport planners, tasked with integrating renewable energy, charging infrastructure, and grid stability for zero-emission medium- and heavy-duty vehicles (ZE-MDHVs). In teams, you’ll strategize how to electrify a ZE corridor, balancing investments in charging stations, grid upgrades, and renewables while managing costs, emissions reductions, and grid stability. The game involves navigating trade-offs between different types of charging infrastructure, renewable energy sources, and advanced system integration strategies like smart grids and vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technology. Guest speakers will provide real-world insights on the integration of renewable energy in freight, helping you to understand the challenges and opportunities in developing green road corridors.
