The four pillars established above exemplify the key components necessary to build a supportive policy landscape for zero-emission medium- and heavy-duty vehicles and each tackle a different challenge of making this transition. However, these four categories cannot capture all of the diverse and innovative policy and action taking place across these regions worldwide. The innovative policy section seeks to provide an overview of policy and action that does not fit neatly into the other categories outlined by this tool. This section is dedicated to highlighting the most innovative techniques employed nationally or subnationally to further advance the uptake and adoption of ZE-MHDVs.

For transparency and clarity, for a country to achieve the “maximum” eligibility, a country must:

  • Establish robust and innovative policies for ZE-MHDVs not captured under the other categories

To receive “limited” eligibility a country must:

  • Have proposed robust and innovative policies for ZE-MHDVs not captured under the other categories, OR;
  • Have developed a robust national roadmap for ZE-MHDVs
